It Was Magical!

Hello, hello! Time is flying today! Where did the day go?! I have no idea…

Lunch was consumed at a normal time today πŸ™‚ It was kind of a repeat of yesterday, but I made the sammie a little different. I had turkey on a whole wheat sandwich thin with spinach and 40 spice hummus. This hummus is great and kind of reminds me of Indian food. I had the last of my grapes (thank God, they were looking pretty sad) and a serving of baked salt and vinegar chips.

While on my lunch break I stopped to pick up a mid-afternoon coffee.

I have been really, really feeling the Dunkin’ Donuts Pumpkin coffee with skim milk. However, it find it to be really, really sweet. So I asked for half the amount of syrup and…IT WAS MAGICAL!!!! So much less sweet and still so pumpkiny πŸ™‚

Tonight’s plans include a great workout, followed dinner with my friend Ashley. Since I am trying to have money, I am making us my Pumpkin Turkey Chili for dinner instead of going out πŸ™‚ See you all later!

Hello! Well, can you even believe it is Thursday already?! I feel like this week is flying by. Maybe because I was so busy yesterday?

Lunch came late yesterday around 1:45 and by the time I got around to eating I was starving!!!! Luckily, I has a great lunch packed.

I has a turkey sandwich on a whole wheat sandwich thin with spinach, provolone, and red pepper spread- winning combination πŸ™‚ On the side I had some baked salt and vinegar chips and some grapes. These grapes were on their way out. They had about a day or so left in them. I eat the lunch in 10 minutes flat before returning to work.

Work was pretty busy at times. We seem to always get a rush as I am trying to leave. I got to leave almost on time πŸ™‚ After work, I stopped in at Starbucks to get my celebratory coffee for National Coffee Day πŸ™‚ Looks like everyone had the same idea.

(I love the lady in the foreground’s face. She is totally thinking, “Why is this girl taking a picture of the line?!” Ah, the life of a blogger- I have no shame πŸ™‚ )

I got my old stand by, a grande skinny vanilla latte. I sipped it while in class.

Class was good tonight, although my professor didn’t get through everything she wanted to get through. She kept us later than usual and was rushing at the end which means I missed a few things. I am so anal about my notes that I am worried about missing those last few things. Hopefully, I can find them in the text book.

By the time I got home from class at 7:30pm I wasn’t really that hungry, but I knew I needed to eat. I had had a filling lunch and I think the latte and water I drank in class filled me up. I was debating what to have, when all of a sudden I have this intense craving for sweet potato and black beans. This combo is awesome! Luckily I opened a can of black beans for a salad earlier this week and I had the leftovers in the fridge. I also had a single lonely sweet potato. So, that is exactly what I had. I love when things work out like this.

So goood!!!!! πŸ™‚

I slept so well last night, but for some reason still felt exhausted this morning when the alarm clock went off. I felt better once I got up and got moving. Breakfast was a whole wheat bagel thin sandwich. One side was topped with Barney Butter and the other side stopped with apple butter and cinnamon. On the side I had apple slices and coffee.

Ugh! I dislike these pictures. I can’t wait until I have a new camera and I can see what my pictures look like again! This is so frustrating. Looks like I should arrive between Monday and Thursday of next week. I think I can make it.

Today’s Outfit:

(Insert me bitching about my broken camera here 😦 ) Brown and white polka dotted top and wide leg khakis (H&M), with brown flats (not pictured).

In Other News (Literally):

Apparently, my Pa have an interview to the Boston Metro that was in the paper today and didn’t tell anyone.Β  Surprise!!!! Nothing like seeing Pa in the newspaper with no warning. I was informed about it by my friend Ashley via text.

Here is the link to the full article. It pretty much made my day πŸ™‚

National Coffee Day

Hello! I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday! Thanks for all your comments and e-mails last night after my last post. I feel like it is an issue I can go back and forth about for hours. In the end, I did end up taking the rest day and I think I really needed it πŸ™‚

I left work at 4:45 to head home and rest. I got caught without an umbrella in a huge downpour on my way to the bus. I had a trench coat on so that saved my arms, but my head was soaked. When I arrived home my head was soaked and my mascara was everywhere. I think I may have frightened a few people on the bus. So I was thrilled to have a nice pumpkin coffee with skim milk waiting for me when I got home wet and cold. πŸ™‚

I spent the next few hours curled up with my husband and the pup catching up on House and The Event. Is anyone else watching The Event? This show is sooo good, it is such a mind game! I am trying to figure it out every time we are watching it.Β  If you like shows that make you think and really like figuring things out I suggest you watch it! So good πŸ™‚

Dinner was simple and easy. I had no energy to cook anything fancy so I heated up the “eggplant fries” from my dinner disaster last week in the oven and made aΒ  pressed turkey sandwich. The sandwich was on a whole wheat tortilla with red pepper spread from Trader Joe’s, spinach, feta and turkey. I just pressed it for a few minutes until the feta was melted and the spinach as wilted.

After dinner, I watched the Britney episode of Glee πŸ™‚ I secretly love Brit!!! I thought it was good. Ah, I love me some Glee. John Stamos is on Glee now, rumor has it he is on for the whole season πŸ™‚ Does anyone else think John Stamos has gotten much better looking with age?

I do! He looks so much better, and I think it is more than the fact that he got rid of the mullet.

While watching Glee, Adam and I split a bowl the caramel and praline frozen yogurt.

Ugh! This photo is awful!!!! Luckily I got news that my NEW CAMERA was shipped yesterday. I can’t wait for it to arrive!!!!!

After Glee, I did some laundry and some cleaning. I was glad I took the rest day. I got a lot done around the house and woke up feeling refreshed and ready to go.

I got up at 5:45 am and got ready for a run with my friend Steph. When I got outside I was surprised at how humid the weather was! We ran 3.84 miles in 39:50. The first two miles felt great. My energy level was up and I was so happy to be running. The second half was harder, I got a little nauseous and felt wiped out. Steph was feeling the same way. We were both sick the week before last and still not feeling 100%. I think that is part of the problem. Overall, the run was fine and I downed a whole bottle of water and felt immediately better.

Splits:

  • Mile 1- 9:49
  • Mile 2- 10:21
  • Mile 3- 10:40
  • .84 Miles- 8:58

Right after the run, I made a nonfat cappuccino and walked Oscar.

Breakfast was a little something I prepared last night. I put about 1/2 a cup of grape nuts in the bottom of a bowl, added one container of fat free vanilla Greek yogurt and about 1 cup of frozen blueberries. I put foil over it and let it sit overnight. This morning I mixed it all up. The blueberries has thawed and the grape nuts were soft. This breakfast reminds me of a cold and creamy blueberry cobbler. πŸ™‚

I ate my breakfast while watching a segment on the Today Show about the cheapest family in America. To see the segment, click here. This family has five children and spends $197 a month of groceries. I was shocked. However, they do a lot of prep work beforehand and once they get the food home as well. Matt Lauer brought up a good point about the amount of time they spent on this and that “time is money”. What are you thoughts on that?

For me, I am always looking for ways to save money and eat well. Sometimes it is hard. I do take the long way sometimes by not buying pre-cut fruits and veggies I have saved a lot of money and it takes no time cutting them all up myself. What are some of your ways of saving at the grocery store?

Today’s Outfit:

Blue pencil skirt (Express), White Cami (H&M), Black Cardigan (Jacob).

Shoes:

Black suede Michael Kors pumps. These shoes are proof that quality it worth the price, I have had them for 4 years and wear them SO OFTEN!

Well, I have got to get going. I hope you all have a great day!

There Is A Fine Line

Hey everyone! How is your Tuesday? Mine is okay. Lunch was yummy leftovers from last night. They heated up quite nicely!

I ate my lunch in like 10 seconds flat. I was starving!!!! I spent the rest of my lunch break reading some school materials.

So today I have been having the same mental back and forth that I talk about a lot on my blog. I talk about it a lot because it happens a lot and it is an issue for me. So today, around 2pm I hit an exhaustion wall. All I want to do is curl up on the couch with a hot coffee and relax. However, I had a workout planned.

So I went back and forth about whether I am going to go or not. First, I thought, “Well I am tired I should listen to my body.” Then I thought, ” Why the heck am I tired, I got enough sleep and had a decent sized coffee this morning. Nothing crazy out of the ordinary happened?” That thought was followed by this one, “There is a fine line between listening to your body and making up excuses.”

This thought hit me like a ton of bricks. There really is a fine line between listening to our bodies and making up excuses, isn’t there?! So I checked in with myself. The truth is, I am truly tired. I don’t have a real reason I can think of for it, but I am tired. Does there need to be a reason? I was really, really sick the week before last and I think that is from not listening to my body. However, I want to give myself the tough love I need when I am just making excuses or being lazy – it does happen.

I guess whenever I am faced with this issue I will:

  • Check in with myself see if I am really feeling tired or not well
  • If yes, rest.
  • If not, get to the gym and try my best. If after 15 minutes I am still not feeling it. Stop.

Do you experience this? What are your thoughts on the “fine line”?

Also…is anyone else excited about the Briteny Spears Glee Episode?!!?! I AM!

Catch Up- complete!

Hello! I am hoping that this post will get us all caught up. If you missed the posts about bestie May’s rehearsal dinner and wedding– check them out.

Yesterday morning I got up thinking that Monday had come too fast. Breakfast was kashi cinnamon square, 1/2 a cup of fat free milk and some strawberries, coffee on the side .

Lunch was a salad made of a bunch of random veggies from my fridge.

Contents:

  • Spinach
  • tomato
  • cucumber
  • yellow bell pepper
  • beets
  • reduced fat feta
  • black beans
  • Goddess dressing.

On the side I had an adora disk and a fizzy water.

How adorable are these koozies?! They were May and Rick’s favors for their wedding.

After work, I did some work at my part-time job. After that I grabbed a quick coffee at my favorite coffee shop -Zumes. I was exhausted, not sure why. I had a medium mild roast with half and half.

Dinner was well on it’s way when I arrived home thanks to my husband. This NEVER happens! I just got to sit on the couch and enjoy not having to worry about dinner πŸ™‚

Adam in action!

He made grilled chicken parm. Instead of breading the chicken he grilled it and topped it with reduced fat cheese and sauce.

On the side me made some whole wheat spaghetti.

My plate:

Adam and I actually ended up splitting another piece of chicken it was so good πŸ™‚

Dessert was also fetch by my husband πŸ™‚ Caramel and Praline froyo. NOM, NOM, NOM!!!! It was so tasty!

Yesterday’s Outfit:

Yikes that one is blurry!Β  There was an issue with my order with amazon.com for a new camera so I had to re-order yesterday. Hopefully, I get it sometime this week!!!! So until them I can’t see the pictures I am taking as I take them. Thanks for your patience! Oh- yeah, the outfit is Brown pants and a blue cardigan (Target).

This morning I got up to another dreary day. I couldn’t decide what I wanted for breakfast (we are out of oatmeal…gasp!). I opened the fridge and saw a jar of Barney Butter I had forgotten about and knew exactly what I wanted πŸ™‚ I had a bagel thin with Barney Butter and some sliced strawberries, oh and coffee!

Today’s Outfit:

Navy blue dress (TJ Maxx)

I am wearing knee high brown boots and brown tights as well.

My necklace is one of my bridesmaid gifts. It is a book locket with a blue cameo on it! I loooove cameos πŸ™‚

Well, on Friday my best friend in the whole wide world married the best guy that anyone could ask for! May and I have been inseparable since we were 7 years old.

She is the closest thing I have to a sister. At my wedding two months ago, she served at the Maid of Honor. So as you can imagine is was a huge honor for me to serve as her Matron (makes me sound 90 years old) of Honor in her wedding. My morning started bright and early at the salon.

Breakfast was a whole wheat bagel with cream cheese. They over loaded me with cream cheese so I had to scrape a lot off.

Once our other bestie Colin who was serving as a Brideman man showed up the mimosas started flowing πŸ˜‰

Once our bride and our bridesman (he didn’t want to feel left out)got their hair did it was off to her parents house we went to get ready.

May’s mom and dad rock and had lunch waiting for us. I had a provolone cheese sandwich with mustard and pickles.

The mass was beautiful, I didn’t take any photos as I was a little preoccupied πŸ˜‰ I actually got way more emotional than I thought I would. She was just so beautiful and I was so happy! Here we are arriving at the reception, which was at the Boston Public Library.

May and Rick looked fantastic and happy, they were both smiling all night long.

Dinner started off with a tasty salad.

After the salad the Best Man, Joe, told me it was time to Rock and Roll! I was excited to give my speech πŸ™‚ I am a ham πŸ˜‰

I got a few laughs, and got a little emotional, but totally kept it together. There may have been a voice quiver or two, no biggy! May and Rick seemed to think the speech was amusing πŸ™‚

My meal was the salmon πŸ™‚ The stack of potatoes was delicious, but was attacked by my potato loving bestie on the right side of meΒ  and my potato loving hubby on the left side. They didn’t stand a chance.

May did share me one of her butternut squash raviolis that is pictured in the right hand corner. They were amazing the food was out of this world.Β  Guess what I had for dessert?! Pumpkin beer. I didn’t stick around for cake. I had dancing to do.

The night was great!!! I saw so many people I hadn’t seen in a while and had a great time celebrating with my bestie and new bestie-in-law.

Here is a picture of Lauren, May and Myself. We have all been close friends since we were kids. All grown up πŸ™‚

Do you love our special koozies?!

My husband the bridesmaid?! πŸ˜‰

Congrats to May and Rick!!!!! I love you both so much and am so lucky to have such great besties!!!!

Well as you may or may not know this weekend was my bestie May’s wedding!!! Everything was FANTASTIC. I left work around 3:15 pm on Thursday to get ready for the rehearsal dinner. This is actually the only picture I have from the church rehearsal. I was busy making sure I knew what I had to do as MOH the next day. This photo is of the priest praying with May and Rick. I really love it!

The rehearsal dinner was at Max and Dylan’s, which is the same place my rehearsal dinner was.I had a few glasses of Pinot Nior throughout the night.

While chatting the tables shared a few delicious appetizers.

Edamame:

Goat Cheese and Toast:

Spicy shrimp on Toasts:

I had a little of everything and they were all great. Our meal started off with a grilled pear salad. The salad was fantastic, I am so glad pear season is back πŸ˜‰

For my meal I picked the fish. It was cooked to perfection and came with spinach and rice topped with a mushroom sauce.

Dessert was chocolate cake, but I was way too stuffed to to eat it. Too stuffed for dessert, who am I?!

The night was a great celebration and we were all so excited for the next day, including the happy couple!

Here are some other pictures from the night:

The boys!

People mingling:

Lauren, May, Brittany, Stacy and myself
